Last night we went on a visual journey through Malaysia via the shadow art known as "wayang" 🌺 With no idea what to expect, we were totally intrigued about "Wayang Malaysia Kita" presented by Masakini Theatre Company... as the lights dimmed, we watched the performers dance behind a screen of light, casting, transforming and using their bodies, simple props, and digital imagery to create a scenes from Malaysian culture, geography and even animals ☺

I've never seen anything quite like this, and the audience gasped whenever they recognize an emerging form take shape - like the sparkly fireflies of Selangor, or the bats hovering in Mulu caves, or chuckled at street scenes we are all too familiar with!

Last night was the Gala night opening for Malaysia Kita, but you can check for tickets at www.masakinitheatre.com.my as it will be showing until April 3rd in KL and then April 8-9 in Seremban💜 I'm sure you'll be as delighted as we were!
